SKOWHEGAN – James T. Plourde, Sr., 77, passed away on Sept. 15, 2104 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Nov. 21, 1936, in Skowhegan, the son of Robert L. and Mary Jane (MacDonald) Plourde.

He graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1954 and was a veteran who proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962 until his honorable discharge.

On May 2, 1959 he married Marjorie Jane in Orlando, Florida. Jim was employed in the automotive industry for 52 years which included; Joseph Motors, Hight Chevrolet, and Central Maine Motors were he retired after 25 years of service. After two years of retirement, he went back to Central Maine Motors until failing health. While there, he made many great friends.

Jim was an active member of the American Legion and Boys Town. He enjoyed hunting, fishing at Oak Pond, snowmobiling and was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Red Sox.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert L. and Mary Jane (MacDonald) Plourde and brother, Richard Plourde.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Jane) Plourde of Skowhegan; three sons: James T. Plourde, Jr. and wife Michelle of North Carolina, John Timothy Plourde of Skowhegan, Joseph Theodore Plourde of Skowhegan; daughter, Melissa Adele Plourde of Skowhegan; three grandsons: James T. Plourde III and wife Valerie of Ohio, Joshua T. Plourde of Georgia, Eric J. Plourde of Skowhegan; granddaughter, April Lynn Plourde of Skowhegan; six great grandchildren; brother, Robert Plourde and wife Esther of St. Albans; sister Leona (Plourde) Turcotte and husband Harold (who were special to him) of Norridgewock; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff in the Oncology Department at RFGH: Linda, Paula, Kelley, and Cassidy for taking such great care of Jim.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Skowhegan, with Father John Mazzi officiating.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Jim’s memory to the Oncology Department of Redington-Fairview General Hospital, c/o Linda Quirion, 64 Fairview Avenue, Skowhegan, ME 04976.
