SUWANNE, Georgia – James Wesley Lambert, Sr., 74, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014.

Born on Dec. 3, 1939, and raised in Strong, Maine, the son of Laura and James. Graduate of East Coast Aero Tech of Bedford, Mass., he relocated to San Mateo, Calif., in 1960 to begin his aeronautics career with United Airlines.

During his 45 years with United, Jim held various positions of growing responsibilities at the San Francisco Airport and Maintenance Base and then at Heathrow Airport in London. His career culminated as International Regional Maintenance Manager in London, UK, responsible for all maintenance operations in Europe and South America.

Jim pursued various passions throughout his life, including woodworking, flying, following sports and a deep love for all outdoor activities, including camping and fishing.

Jim enjoyed socializing, gathering with family and friends, and was always quick to lend a hand to church, youth groups or neighbors. Jim’s volunteer recognition included receiving the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award, the highest level of adult recognition.

A long-time resident of San Franciso Bay Area, Jim retired to Suwanee, Georgia, where as a member of Saint Columba Episcopal Church, he served as coffee host ministry organizer, usher, greeter and spent many hours tending to the church grounds.

Jim is survived by his wife, Wendy Lambert of Suwanee; sons, James Wesley, Jr. (Jennifer), Jeffrey Wayne (Virginia), Jonathan Wade (Amy), Jay Warren; mother of his sons Connie; brother Jon (Nancy); sister Janice; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Oct. 16 at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Suwanee , Georgia, with The Rev. Fr. Tripp Norris as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Columba’s Episcopal Church Memorial Garden Fund.

Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.

  1. My condolences and prayers go to the Lambert Family for the loss of James Wesley sr. I never met him but did know his father and I am a distant cousin to the Lambert family.
