Janet Claire Dusoe (1931 – 2014)

COOPERS MILLS – Janet Claire Dusoe, 82, died October 22, 2014 at the Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills, Maine, after a brief illness.

Born in Worcester, Mass. on November 26, 1931, she was the daughter of Bertwood and Josephine Hammond.

Growing up in the Worcester area, Janet was educated in the local schools and graduated with a registered nursing degree and employed at Worcester Hospital. She married James Dusoe in 1954. Jim was in the United States Navy and they had 7 children as they moved all over the United States.

She is survived by her sons, James and his wife, Carol, of Hollywood, Florida; Peter and his wife, Brenda, of Albion, Maine: Richard and his wife, Roberta, of Chesapeake, Virginia: Thomas and his wife, Carrie of Omaha, NE; William and his wife, Denise, of Belfast, Maine; her daughter, Karen Snyder of New Sharon, Maine; and her brother, Buzz Hammond and his wife, Barbara, of Vassalboro, Maine. She has eleven grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren.

Janet was predeceased by her husband Jim, daughter Lauren and son-in-law John.

In 1967 following the death of her husband, Janet and the children moved to Belfast, Maine where she worked at Bradbury Nursing Home for many years. Janet loved her cat, Garfield, doing puzzles, playing cards and going to yard sales.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Country Manor and Maine Care Hospice for all of the wonderful care and compassion they had for Janet.

A Visiting Hour will be Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM with a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at Callahan, Fay and Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street Worcester, MA. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to may make donations to Country Manor Residents Care Fund, P.O. Box 209, Coopers Mills, ME 04341
