Janeth Pamela Strout (1944 – 2012)
JAY - Janeth Pamela Strout, age 67, passed away on July 10, 2012 at her home after a long illness, with family and friends at her side.
Pam was born July 12, 1944 in Bangor, Maine to Merle W. Strout and Kathleen J. Whidden. She spent her childhood years in Bangor and Portland and later lived with her sister Merlene and brother in-law “Jimmy” in Standish. In 1987, she started working at Landmark in Bridgton where she also took part in the Special Olympics.
Pam moved to Farmington and into LEAP’s Our House in 1999 and eventually befriended Anne. The two of them moved in together in the fall of 2003. She also attended Work First for many years and especially enjoyed working on the “baby clothes” at the Touch of Class thrift store. Other jobs and volunteer opportunities included the Harris House, Franklin County Animal Shelter and delivering Meals on Wheels to local seniors. Prior to retiring in the fall of 2011, the highlight of her work week was having lunch out on Tuesdays with her co-workers.
Pam will be remembered for her deep sense of caring and thoughtfulness towards others, a contagious laugh and loving hugs. Her friends and family described her as tenacious, genuine, happy, caring, charismatic, determined, authentic, charming and persistent. She loved doing her puzzles, celebrating every holiday, watching the news, visiting with babies and coffee talks with her friends and companions. Pam was a socialite and enjoyed attending and hosting parties throughout the year. She was a regular at Dunkin Donuts and certainly enjoyed her coffee. Over the years, Pam enjoyed vacationing, musical events, dances, snowmobiles, parties, shopping and simply being with others. The highlight of her year was the annual family camping trips to Washburn where she got to ride the four wheelers (zoom! Zoom!) and do her style of “camping”. She was a member of the Beans Corner Baptist Church where she worshiped every Sunday. Pam approached life with a smile and positive attitude and did not focus on the obstacles presented to her in life.
She is survived by; her sisters, Merlene Pottle and husband James of Standish, Donna Rand and husband Harry of Gray; Beverly Doughty and husband Ed of Gray, and Joyce Strout of South Portland; nephews, Raymond Pottle and wife Christine of Carmel, David Woodbury Jr. And wife Debra of Standish, James Woodbury and wife Rosa of Gorham, Brent Pottle and wife Heather of Buxton, Barry Flood and fiance` Krissy of Washburn, and Byron Flood and wife Maria of Washburn; nieces, Cindy Roberts and husband Michael of Limington, Bonnie Crowe and husband Kevin of Gorham, and Renay Trask and husband Bill of Standish; several cousins, great nieces and great nephews; and her dear friend Anne Umbro of Jay.
A service to celebrate Pam’s life will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Standish Congregational Church located at 25 Oak Hill Road in Standish. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Pam may contribute in her memory to: LEAP Inc., 313 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, ME 04938.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, ME.

I used to work in the produce section at Wal-mart and when she came in she always had a smile on her face and would always say hi. It is so sad when a beautiful person such as Pam passes away. Jesus needed her smiles in heaven!
Pam was such a special and amazing lady. I loved seeing her and getting my hug and smile from her each week at church. She built a special bond with my young son and we enjoyed going to see her once she couldn't come out. I am glad that she got to see our new baby which she was so excited about. I praise God that I will see Pam again and enjoy smiles and hugs with her one day. But for now, my heart is broken as I will miss her deeply. Such a remarkable and wonderful woman.
And praise God for such a loving family that surrounded her and enriched her life so much, not to mention the nurses of LEAP who gave her so much love and received much love in return.

Although we never got to know one another, I feel like I have known you for years, through your sister, Merlene. I know you were a woman of charm, laughter, tenderness, and very giving. Your life filled empty hearts in many people around you, made them laugh, smile. We met once, briefly, at Merlene's, it was a moment I will surely embrace. May you find forever lasting peace in the house of God.
I will miss her smile and her total enjoyment of life. It was a privilege to know her and work with her. may she rest in peace knowing that she was loved and made a difference in so many lives. peace Miss Pam!
You were such a wonderful lady Pam full of laughter and spunk! I had the privilege of working for you and then later just spending time going to the movies and out to eat. I will truly miss those times. Always loved to make you laugh and see you smile by me acting goofy. I will forever hear your laugh and you calling me "sissy" for being cold when I visited your house. You touched many lives and forever will be missed.

In the years that Pam & Anne were roommates, I never saw Pam without a beaming smile, delightful laugh, and fully loving & enjoying the moment. She was such a good friend to my aunt & was a part of the family to me. My deepest sympathies to Pam's siblings & family at her loss. We have all lost a wonderful lady.
