WILTON – Jean M. Berkey, 74, of Wilton, passed away to be with the Lord on July 16, 2016 at Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born on Dec. 10, 1941 in Emporium, Penn., a daughter of Edward G. And Twila (Schrock) Michael. On May 15, 1960, she married Paul J. Berkey Sr. in Valier, Penn.

Jean loved making crafts and loved to read a good book. She loved to play cards with friends and family. She and her husband often opened up their home to others that needed a place to stay. She was a great cook and had a lot of people come to her table. Jean was a member of the Calvary Hill Baptist Church. She loved to volunteer at Camp Good News in her spare time. She loved to travel to other states to visit friends and family.

She was always ready when her husband said, “Let’s go.” She loved the Lord, her family, and many friends. She will be missed by so many whose lives she has touched.

She is survived by her loving husband, Paul J. Berkey, Sr. of Wilton; her two sons, Paul J. Berkey Jr. and wife Stacy of Delaware, Jason Berkey and wife Tammy of Farmington; four grandchildren: Brittany Berkey of Jay, Kayla Berkey of Farmington, Tashia Berkey of Farmington, and Chelsie Berkey of Farmington; two great grandchildren, Chloe-Rose Corson of Farmington and Tevin Mayo of Delaware; five sisters: Marlene Zobrist of Belfast, N.Y., Alma Crawford of Kenmore, N.Y., Dawn Gutka and husband Anthony of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Kim Dolan and husband Daniel of Florida; and one brother, Kevin Michael and wife Kelly of Lewiston, N.Y.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Eddie Michael; and her sister, Cheryl Elmer.

Donations in Jean’s memory may be made to Camp Good News, 413 Campground Rd., Livermore Falls, ME 04254.

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Hill Baptist Church, 195 US Route 2 in Wilton, with Pastor Ron Corey officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.

    I am so sorry and I understand the tremendous loss you are feeling. I have been there. You and your family are all in my prayers. As I said to you I am here if you need an ear at anytime.

  2. Paul and family, my thoughts and prayers are with all during this time. It was our children that brought us together and provided so many tines of sharing over the years. I loved the visits with Jean; laughing, crying, solving the world’s problems, playing cards, and more.
    I will cherish the memory of our last time together. We had breakfast, devotions, prayed and listened to beautiful Christian music on videos from TN. The smile on her face as I said, “Good Bye”, I will hold dear.

  3. I have been so blessed to have known such an amazing women and have had her as a Mother in Law. Although our time together was short I was so fortunate to have seen her overwhelming love for her family and our saviour Jesus Christ. Her testimony for the Lord was unwavering in sickness and health. She always had a smile on her face and pleasant words to say.
    May God bless her in heaven as I’m sure she has blessed all of us.
