John E. Walton, Jr. (1951-2014)

AVON – John E. Walton, Jr., 63, of Avon, died on Thursday morning, April 17, 2014, in the comfort of his home in Avon.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1951 in Mifflin, Penn., a son of John E. and Mary (Dressler) Walton, Sr. He graduated from Juniata High School in Mifflintown, Penn. and from Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Penn. John later earned a certificate in Theology from the Denver Seminary in Colorado.

On June 16, 1971, he married Catheanne Kirk in Honey Grove, Penn. They moved to Maine when John served as the director of the Blueberry Mt. Bible Camp in Weld, a position he held for four years. John held several positions at various area Walmarts, most notably as the District Loss Prevention supervisor. He retired last August as the assistant manager of the Rite Aid in Livermore Falls.

John attended Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Wilton. “Whistlepost” was his geocache ID, and was an activity that he loved very much. He and his wife geocached together throughout the U.S.

He is survived by his wife, Catheanne of Avon; a son, Sean Walton and his wife, Leah of Bedford, Mass. and their children, Owen and Evelyn; a daughter, Kirsten Brann and her husband, Matthew of New Vineyard and their children, Aiden, Kiley, and Wyatt; a sister, Susian Reuther and her husband, Charles, III of Mayfield, Penn.; a brother, Joseph Walton and his wife, Heather of Mifflintown, Penn.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Memorial services will be held, 11 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Wilton with Pastors Barry Trask and Caleb Burd, a nephew, co-officiating. Private family interment will be later in the spring at the Strong Village Cemetery in Strong. Gifts may be given in John’s memory to S.C.H.O.O.L., 325 River Rd., Avon, ME 04966, a mission agency that supports a Christian school for Haitian children. Arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service & Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington.

    So sorry to hear about John, he is at that special place called HEAVEN he talked about all his ljfe. We will all meet him again someday. We were so blessed to have been able to be together during his Chemo treatments. We talked about our children doing things together and their high school years. Our family is blessed to have friends like your family. We are sending prayers your way.
