Katheryn M. Ames (1932-2016)

FARMINGTON – Katheryn Maxine Ames, 84, a resident of Edgewood Rehabilitation & Living Center for eight years, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1932, the daughter of John and Eleanor Allen, Sr. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1951 and went on to work for Pratt & Whitney Manufacturing in Connecticut for a few years. After moving to California, where she married her high school classmate Colis W. Ames, they moved to Michigan for a short time and then back to Maine where they resided in Manchester for over 40 years.

She was a member of The Manchester Union Church, the Manchester Lions Club, and the Manchester Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, knitting, watching the Red Sox, and listening to country music.

Katheryn is survived by her daughter Carrie Aubin and her husband Matthew of Windsor; her son Scott Ames of Randolph; three grandchildren: Justin Parker of Pennsylvania, Cassie Gray of Farmingdale, and Joseline Ames of Augusta; three sisters: Barbara White and husband Arlo of Farmington, Pat Soule and husband Barton of Dayton, and Diane Priest and husband Donald of North Anson; three brothers: Clyde Allen and wife Anita of New Sharon, Philip Allen and wife Melissa of Farmington, and David Allen and wife Carolyn of West Farmington; sisters-in-law: Ruby Allen and Sharon Allen, both of Farmington; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by three brothers: Richard, Herbert, and John Allen Jr.

A graveside service will be held on Oct. 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Bracy officiating at Riverside Cemetery in Farmington.

  1. Myprayers for Kathryns family for their loss. Youare in my thoughts and prayers. My friendship with this family goes back a good many years ago as we all grew up in the same neighborhood. RIP Kathryn

  2. Thoughts and prayers go out to Katheryn’s family. I am sure there will be many stories told when she reunites with her brothers. R.I.P. Katheryn.
