Kelly J. Sargent

Kelly was born on May 11, 1963, in Farmington, to Charles Harold Young and Isabelle Lillian Casey (later known as Casey Hodgkins). Kelly and her siblings, Kathy, Kristi, and Scott, grew up with their parents businesses which included the Jay Hill drive-in movie theater, meat markets, and grocery stores. During high school, Kelly was a cheerleader (the one on top of the pyramid) and graduated from Mount Blue in 1981.

In 1986, Kelly met Eric Sargent in Rangeley and together they moved to Boca Raton, Florida. On March 5, 1988 they were married in Farmington, recently celebrating their 28th anniversary this year.

Kelly attended the University of Maine at Farmington and Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute in Auburn, earning an LPN license in 1983. With three children (at the time) and a husband who traveled and frequently worked away from the home, Kelly put herself through school at Broward Community College, earning her associate’s degree in Nursing (A.D.N.) in 1996.

Kelly loved nursing. Spending over 30 years in the field, she had a natural skill set with many tasks including IVs, communication, patient care, pain management and patient assessments. She was an excellent nurse; extremely dependable, caring and responsible. During her career, Kelly worked at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Delray Medical Center in Delray, FL, Delray Outpatient Surgery and Laser Center in Delray, FL, Inland Hospital in Waterville, Carroll County Gastroenterology in Wolfeboro, N.H., Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, N.H. and Dynamicare in Tamworth, N.H.

Some of Kelly’s interests included fishing, gardening, snow and water skiing, spending time with her children, enjoying the porch, watching hummingbirds, and spending time at her family camp in Wilton. She was tough to beat at Yahtzee and was a fan of the New England Patriots and the University of Florida Gators.

Kelly is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Eric Sargent of Tuftonboro, N.H.; children, Alexander Sargent of Somerville, Mass., Christopher Sargent of Naples, FL, Kevin Sargent of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Casey Sargent of Gainesville, FL; siblings, Kathy Groder and her husband, William of Wilton, Kristi Couture and her husband Darryl of Jay, and Scott Young and his companion Lauire Blake of Wilton; Kelly was also the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Charles Young; mother, Casey Hodgkins; and step-father, Richard Hodgkins. Tributes and condolences may be shared by visiting www.wilesrc.com.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation being held on Friday, July 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, Maine 04938. A memorial service will be held at the Center on Saturday, July 30 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Immediately following the service, all are welcome to a celebration of Kelly’s life from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Young’s family Camp, 57 Camp Road in Wilton.

  7. Jim and I are blessed that we got to meet Kelly and her wonderful children at Jared (our son) and Heather’s wedding last summer. From just that short time, I sensed her strong commitment to her entire family and saw what a beautiful woman both inside and out she was. Our daughter-in-law always spoke highly of her aunt and cousins. Heather has relayed wonderful memories she has had of the amazing times at her Grandparents lake house with her entire family. Like Jared, family is very important to Heather and Easton is blessed to have been born into two loving families.

  8. Although I never met Kelly, I can see she was a beautiful person both inside and out. She was so loved and made an impact on many people. To be a nurse and serve others is so self sacrificing and speaks highly of the kind of person Kelly was. Love and prayers are being sent to Kathy, and other family members and close friends. May God be with all of you and give you peace.

We were all blessed to have known her though her time was so short here on Earth, Her greatest accomplishment was raising four wonderful loving children.
