FARMINGTON – Louise Alice Laney, 83, of Industry, passed on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31, 2015, at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center.

She was born on July 29, 1931, in Brighton, one of 13 children of Perley True and Maggie Allie (Gerald) Brown. She was a 1951 graduate of Madison High School and for a brief time was employed at Norwock Shoe where she met her soulmate Ruel A. Laney. They married on Dec. 24, 1960 in Madison.

She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed taking care of her family. Her favorite hobbies were knitting, crocheting and canning. She and her dear friend, Vivian Kennedy, were involved for over 25 years with the Extension Service. She attended the Presbyterian Church in Industry years ago.

Louise is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ruel of Industry; their son Blyn of Industry and daughter, Dalene Holt and her husband Michael of North Anson; a special niece Joyce Whitney of Skowhegan and neighbors whom she thought of as family, Larry and Nancy Cain and their children Larry, Jr. and Roger, of Industry.

Public graveside services will be held on Tuesday morning, May 19 at 10 a.m. at the Center Cemetery, Industry. Remembrance gifts may be given in her memory to the Resident Activity Fund at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center, 107 Orchard St. Farmington, Maine 04938 ATT.: Administrator Carol Timberlake.
