RUMFORD – Lula Manzer, 85, of Rumford, passed away peacefully at the Rumford Community Home with her loving family by her side.
Lula was born, one of 17 children, on Aug. 5, 1929, to Silas and Hazel (Toothaker) Blodgett Sr. She married her husband Arthur Harry Manzer Sr. in 1961, together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2004.
Lula or “Great” had a passion for cooking and shared her love through feeding not only her family, but even the Dixfield Square Apartment complex where she was a resident for many years.
Lula is survived by her daughter, Nancy Doughty and her husband Bruce of California; a son Arthur “Rocky” Manzer Jr. and his wife Cindy of Peru; a daughter-in-law Lucille Crawford of Dixfield; a sister, Rachel Hardy of Florida; seven grandchildren: Tricia Bouche, Allison Penny, Bruce Doughy Jr., Tessa Manzer, Katie Houghton, Heather Manzer, and Arthur Manzer III; and eight great-grandchildren: Dominic, Brody, Mariah, Wyatt, Griffin, Tyler, Delia, and Amber.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; a son John Crawford, and a great-grandchild, Kia.
A memorial service will be held at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 42 Weld St., in Dixfield on Friday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Dixfield. Tributes and condolences may be shared on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
