Margaret “ Peg” Callahan Stinchfield (1916-2012)
PHILLIPS - Margaret “ Peg” Callahan Stinchfield, 95, died on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Maplecrest Rehab and Living Center in Madison.
She was born on December 22, 1916 in Farmington, the daughter of John A. And Maude E. (Foley) Callahan. She was educated in the schools of Farmington, graduating from Farmington High School in 1934. She was employed by New England Telephone as a telephone operator from 1934 to 1938.
On May 22, 1938, she married Russell Stinchfield at Kittery Point. All of her later life, she made her home in Phillips. She was a member of the Ladies Social Union, PTA, AMPS Ambulance Board of Directors and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.
She enjoyed sewing, playing cards and spending the summer months at camp on Long Pond in Rangeley.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald R. Stinchfield of Avon ,and John E. Stinchfield of Phillips; two daughters, Sally Weinhart of California, and Joyce S. Potter of Avon.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Russell Stinchfield, who died on Sept. 13, 1975.
The family is very thankful for the good care that she received from the staff at the Maplecrest Nursing Home.
Donations may be made in Peg’s memory to the Phillips Congregational Church, PO Box 273, Phillips, ME 04966. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Services, 68 Main Street, Phillips, Maine.
