Marie L. DeRoche (1927-2015)

FARMINGTON – Marie L. DeRoche, 88, of Farmington, passed away peacefully at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

She was born on Feb. 25, 1927, in Farmington, a daughter of John and Ruth (Knapp) DeRoche. Marie attended the Little Red Schoolhouse in Farmington, graduating from eighth grade in 1942 and also graduated from Farmington High School in 1946.

Marie worked at Forster Mfg. in East Wilton, retiring in 1991 after 45 years of service. She enjoyed doing many jigsaw puzzles, jumbo word puzzles, and enjoyed watching sports on TV. While able, she took great pleasure in walking downtown have daily coffee with “the girls,” especially Pat Reynolds. She also enjoyed her daily phone chats with Bettie Tripp, visits and lunches with Sherry Lake and her life-long friendship with Caroline Dingley Wench of Gorham.

She loved animals and especially enjoyed her sister’s pets, the latest being the little dog Sophie and Almond.

Marie was predeceased by her parents; half sisters; Catherine and Marjorie Collins, both of Farmington and her beloved brother, “Bobbie,” whom she cherished.

She is survived by two brothers: Donald E. DeRoche and Arthur DeRoche, both of Farmington and sister Beverly D. Hall of Farmington; step-niece Nancy Richardson and her husband, Leslie of Wilton.

A special thanks to Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center and The Androscoggin Hospice Care for their care and support. Special thanks to Katie Wells for all her love and special times she spent with Marie; also, thanks to Lori Harris and Nancy Vetne.

At Marie’s request, there will be no services. Burial will be on the family lot at Riverside Cemetery in the springtime. Remembrance gifts may be given in her memory to the Franklin County Animal Shelter 550 Industry Rd. Farmington, ME 04938.

  2. Loved Marie’s laugh and that cute little look she gave when she was being teased. We enjoyed our many coffee dates with her. Sending prayers to both Beverly and Don . Marie was so lucky to have both of you!
