SKOWHEGAN – Martha S. Keene, 79, passed away on Oct. 25, 2014 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor surrounded by her family.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1935 in Skowhegan, the daughter of Walter and Louise (Cross) Stoodley. She was educated in local area schools and attended Bloomfield Academy in Skowhegan.
She worked for many years at the Spinning Mill and Dexter Shoe in Skowhegan. Martha enjoyed knitting, birdwatching, reading, puzzles, playing scrabble, and spending time with family and friends.
Martha is survived by her husband of 59 years, Vernon Keene of Skowhegan; son, Mark W. Keene and wife Victoria of Skowhegan; granddaughter, Jasmine Gordon of Skowhegan; grandson, Joseph Keene of Fairbanks, Alaska; brother, George Stoodley of Carbondale, Illinois; brother-in-law, Alvin Keene and wife Diane of Carrabassett Valley; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hubbard and husband Don of Alfred; special friends, Kim Dickey and Kaylee Jean Dickey, both of Embden; several special nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Diggs and husband Mason of Suffolk, Virginia and Patricia Hayden of Skowhegan; father-in-law, George Keene and wife Ida of Livermore.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
