Mary Elizabeth Hinkley Bachelder (1935-2015)

KINGFIELD – Mary Elizabeth Hinkley Bachelder, 79, passed away with her loving family by her side, on May 2, 2015, at her home in Kingfield following a long illness.

She was born on Nov. 8, 1935, in Kingfield, to the late Evan and Nellie (Morton) Hinkley. She received her early education in Kingfield schools, then graduated in 1975 from the Waterville Practical Nursing School. She also studied with the Liberty Home Bible Institute.

Mary worked as a nurse at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Redington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan, and Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg, Mass. Over the years, she also was employed by local nursing homes at Edgewood Manor, Orchard Park, and Pinewood Terrace, all in Farmington, and Maplecrest in Madison.

She attended the Western Maine Baptist Church in New Portland. Mary loved collecting “stuff,” traveling, fishing, and spending time with her family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her granddaughter, LeAnn Bachelder, her grandson, Chris Bachelder , Androscoggin Hospice and all those who helped take care of Mary in her final days of life.

She is survived by her sons: Rocky Bachelder of Kingfield, Tony Bachelder and wife Janet of Strong; her daughters-in-law, Theresa Bachelder of Kingfield, Torrie Bachelder of Kingfield; her brothers, Pearly Hinkley of Kingfield, Charles Hinkley of Kingfield; her sisters, Ruby Bachelder and husband Lewis “Sonny” of Kingfield, Pat Sanders of Kingfield, Helen Keach of Farmington, Lucy Hinkley of Farmington; her sister-in-law, Dot Dyer of Farmington; her best friend, Jean Ellis of New Vineyard; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several adopted grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and was claimed by even more.

She was predeceased by her husbands: Moses Bachelder Jr., Donnet Racette, and Roy Wahl; her children, Andrew Bachelder, Nellie Bachelder, and Katherene Bachelder; her siblings, Ray Hinkley, John Hinkley, Ruth Hinkley, and Marie Ringette.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Western Mountains Baptist Church, 929 Carrabassett Rd. (Rt 27), New Portland, with Pastor Tom Dubois officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Kingfield.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.
