FARMINGTON – Mary Elizabeth Hutchinson, 87, of Farmington left this Earth on Sept. 3, 2015 to be with the Lord and other family members.

She was born on Sept. 24, 1927 in Farmington the daughter of Guy and Mary Chandler.

She graduated from Wilton Academy in Wilton. Mary married Carroll Hutchinson and they had ten children and made their home in West Farmington.

She was a homemaker and then went to work at Foster Manufacturing in Strong, Dryden, and E. Wilton. She worked in Pic Pac Department and served as treasurer of the Workers Union. In her 60s she retired but then went back to work due to boredom and retired a second time in her 70s. After retiring she was a personal care attendant for her niece before working for Care and Comfort for a short time.

Mary loved bowling and played in several leagues at Meadow Lanes in Wilton and in tournaments out of state with friends. She bowled into her 80s before giving it up. She loved playing bingo and going to fairs. She enjoyed going for rides, having picnics, and going to the beach whether it be the Ocean or Dummer’s Beach in Weld. Mary loved yard sales, rummage sales, and going to parades.

She was a kind soul and would go without to do good for others and always rooted for the underdog. Family was important to her and she looked forward to reunions. She was never one to gossip but always spoke her opinion.

She is survived by four daughters, Carol Ann Haines of Chesterville, Linda Adams and her husband Leslie of Weld, Priscilla Hutchinson and companion Marshal White of Farmington, and Holly Starbird of Jay; four sons Bruce Hutchinson of Farmington, Carl Hutchinson of Farmington, Randy Hutchinson and wife Sandra of New Sharon, and Robin Hutchinson of Farmington; a sister Beatrice Fitzmorris of Skowhegan; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews to numerous to mention. A special thank you to her guardian angel Sandra Hutchinson.

She was predeceased by her husband Carroll, a son John Hutchinson, and an infant son Vaughn Hutchinson, her parents, her brother Leon Chandler and his wife Sloan; sisters Margaret Barker, Thelma Cushman, and Florence Collins; and sisters-in-law Glenis Foss and Phylis Hewey.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday Sept. 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Wilton United Methodist Church 600 Main St. Wilton, with Rev. Laura Church officiating. Interment will take place Tuesday Sept. 8, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Farmington. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams-McFarlane Funeral & Cremation svc. 108 Court St. Farmington.

  7. Bowled a few years back with Mary….she was a cheery person and I enjoyed bowling on her team as well as in opposition. My condolences to the family.
