Maurice Edmund Labrecque (1926-2015)

SKOWHEGAN – Maurice Edmund Labrecque, 88, passed away on May 16, 2015 at Woodlawn Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born on Sept. 10, 1926, in Skowhegan, the son of Adelard and Elsie M. (Gagnon) Labrecque. He attended Skowhegan area schools.

Maurice was employed by Airport Auto, People’s Garage, both in Skowhegan, and part time at the Elks lodge and Motor Supply at the Shawmut warehouse. He was a veteran who proudly served his country in the US Navy until his honorable discharge. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, fishing, gardening, playing cribbage, and a lifetime member of the Elks.

Maurice is survived by two sons, Thomas Labrecque and wife Connie of Altus, Oklahoma, Roger Labrecque of Uncasville, Connecticut; a daughter, Lorraine MacDonald and husband Bruce of Skowhegan; sister, Rita Perry of Bedford, N.H.; grandchildren, Bradley Labrecque of Altus, Ok, Jolene Ivey and husband Tom of Fyffe, Alabama, Christopher Labrecque and wife Nicci of Griswald, Conn., Brandon Labrecque and partner Mark of Voluntown, Conn.; many step grandchildren, great grandchildren, step great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine LaBreck of St. Albans, Ruth Barney of Augusta; brother-in-law, Roland Barney of Augusta; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Theresa; his parents; brother, Raymond; brother-in-law, Bruce Perry; grandson, Stephen Labrecque; step grandchildren, Mike Bryant, Trina Bryant Dickson; in-laws, Rita Gotreau, Reny and Bertha Beaudoin, Roland Dube, Clement and Jean Dube, Willard and Annie Dube.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the Woodlawn Rehabilitation and Nursing facility, Dr. Prokop and staff, all the staff at Redington Fairview General Hospital, Home Health and Hospice nurses for their wonderful care, love, and support they gave Maurice during his illness. Many special thank yous to Connie for showing us all just how much this family means to her by spending his last weeks attending to his needs and wishes.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
