CANAAN – Maxine T. Ames, 92, passed away on June 30, 2015 at 7:15 p.m. at her home surrounded by family.
She was born on July 20, 1922, in Canaan, the daughter of Wilbur W. and Margaret (Nasan) Tuttle. Through the years, she worked at The Maine Wollen Company and The Maine Spinning Company for 20 years and 8 years at the Lighthouse Shoe Company. She attended and was an active member of the Canaan Calvary Church for many years. Maxine was a very giving mother, grandmother, and great great grandmother. She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Frances Davis; seven grandchildren: Steven Young, Timothy Young and wife Bobby, Jay Young and wife Donna, Aron Young and wife Diana, Sherry Niehoff, Deborah Connell, Joni Plourde and husband Ronald; seven great grandchildren: Jessica Howe and husband Benjamin, Kristy Boothby, Heather Niehoff, Megan Niehoff, Paige Plourde, Dayna Plourde; four great great grandchildren, Joseph Howe, Katelyn Howe, Sara Howe and Ava Boothby.
She was predeceased by her husband, Augustus Ames, May 1, 1993; daughter, Joanne Young, Dec. 25, 2001 and her husband Donald in 1999; brothers, Arvell, Bernard, and Richard Tuttle; sisters, Barbara Clark, Teresa Holt, Bernice Lagasse, Frances Tuttle; and son-in-law, David Davis.
There will be no visitation hours. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Canaan with the Reverend Al Buzzell officiating.
