VIENNA – Misty Ann McKechnie, 36, of Vienna, died on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Misty was born on March 14, 1980 in Farmington, the daughter of Thomas and Glenice (Trask) McKechnie. Misty attended Mt. Blue High School and graduated in 1998. She worked as a CNA volunteered with the Vienna Fire Department and Mt. Vernon Rescue.

Misty lived for the moment and had an overwhelming love of life, living, and family. She loved anything that was outdoors; hunting, fishing, rock climbing, camping, hiking and more.

Misty will be missed by her large family and multitude of friends. She is loved by all as the Life of the Party, Rest in peace.

She is predeceased by her father, Tom McKechnie; grandparents Arthur and Ruth McKechnie and Ernest and Helen Trask; several aunts and uncles and a nephew, Corey McKechnie.

Misty is survived by her children, Eli and Zach Nystrom and Haley Ames; her significant other, Nick Ames, who loves her unconditionally; her mother, Glenice McKechnie, all of Vienna; her sister Jamie McKechnie and her significant other Andrew Welch; and nephews Dustin and Brian Welch, all of New Vineyard.

Relatives and friends may visit Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta, where a celebration of Misty’s life will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Municipal Cemetery, Vienna.

  1. So sad to hear about such a tragic accident that claimed a young life. I went to school with misty and would see here on a regular basis with here children at flying pond variety or on a lake having fun. Prayers to all her family and friends. Rest in peace

  2. So sorry to hear of Misty’s passing! She was such a unique person, someone who had so many strengths and knew everyone everywhere :). She sure loved her family and her children.
