Nora Kathleen Hirschmann (1924-2012)

WINTHROP – Nora Kathleen Hirschmann, 88, of Winthrop, died early Thursday evening at Heritage Rehab and Living Center in Winthrop.

She was born on April 13, 1924 in Kingston, Ontario, a daughter of Walter and Margaret Perry (McIlroy) Gallivan. She worked for many years for Wrigley Chewing Gum where she was a direct aide to the sales staff, making sure that they had all of the necessary items for their sales calls.

She move to Maine in the late 1980s and she was an animal lover – especially dogs and cats.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Rau of Mt. Vernon; nephews, Stephen Rau of Mt. Vernon and David Miller of MI; nieces, Karen Steinhaus of New Canaan, CT and Linda Rosin of MI; a niece-in-law, Shirley Rau of New Sharon; a very dear friend, Amber White of Winthrop.

She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Miller, brothers, Walter and William, and a nephew, Ernest Rau, Jr.

Public memorial services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a. m. at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. Private family interment will be at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests that those who desire, consider memorial donations in Nora’s memory to the Pals Animal Shelter, 188 Case Road, Winthrop, ME 04364.
