SKOWHEGAN – Norris “Nobbie” C. Clark, 82, passed from this earth Oct. 5, 2015, surrounded by his family after a long illness. He has gone to be with his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia D. Clark, who passed in January.

He was born Oct. 1, 1933 in West Farmington, the son of Norris E. and Ruth S. (Steward) Clark.

Nobbie was honored as the first Eagle Scout in the first Boy Scout troop established in Bingham. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. He served aboard the USS Stephen Potter, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He was a charter member of the Elks Lodge in Skowhegan, being a member for 42 years. Nobbie was employed at Sampson’s as a meat cutter and later at Hannaford and George’s Banana Stand. He was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his adult life.

The family would like to extend special thanks to our CNAs and primary Nurse Sandra from Maine General Hospice, our CNA Lydia from Mainely Eldercare, Dr. Annette Goodman and Fr. Oto Prokop for the loving and compassionate care they gave our father during his illness.

Nobbie is survived by his son Scott Clark and his wife Angela of Louisville, KY; his daughters Sharon Lee, of Skowhegan, ME and Jennifer Clark and her husband Michael Connell of Skowhegan, as well as two daughters from his first marriage Cynthia Tuttle and Sandra Yandian. He is also survived by his grandsons Andrew Clark and his wife Faryn; Nathan Clark and his wife Sarah; Matthew Clark and his wife Marea, Cameron Clark; Christopher Egnor and his wife Mista; Granddaughters Amanda Porter and Lindsay Feliciani, and five great grandchildren.

It is his wish to be cremated and to not have a viewing, as he would like to be remembered as the vital man he was. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge on Silver Street in Skowhegan. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
