Paul Carl Murphy (1961-2015)

AUGUSTA – Paul Carl Murphy, 53, of Farmington, passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, of leukemia at the Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.

He was born on March 18, 1961, in Farmington, the son of Carl Gerald Murphy and Betty Thompson Murphy. He was educated in the schools of Strong and graduated from Mt. Abram High School in the class of 1979. He was disabled and spent a lot of time in the hospital.

Always a dreamer and thinking up some new invention. He worked as a machinist in the early part of his adult life. He also worked on log buildings, figuring fancy circular stairs and railings.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Murphy and partner Joseph Pawloski of Farmington; his two brothers: Dale Murphy and partner Cheryl Tollard of Idaho Springs, Colo., Vaughn Murphy and wife Carolyn of Warren; his step mother, Earlene Murphy of Maine; his half brother Shane Murphy of PEI, Canada; his step brother, William Madairos of Derry, N.H.; his step sister, Donna Arsenault of Maine; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by both of his grandparents, Bayfield and Thelma Murphy of PEI, Canada, and Merle and Ruby Thompson of North Jay; his father Carl Murphy of Elerslie, PEI, Canada.

Donations in Paul’s memory may be sent to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Ave., Suite #202, Wilmette, IL 60091-1064.

There will be a get together at the home of Joseph Pawloski, 693 Knowlton Corner Road, Farmington on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, from 1 To 4 p.m.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.

  1. RIP Paul… Condolences to his family… Paul grew up next to us on the Pillsbury Road in Strong.. He was a helpful and kind young man to all in the neighbor hood..

  3. I will always remember Paul telling stories of visiting PEI (Prince Edward Island) and how he helped the Anne of Green Gables stories come to life for me. RIP Paul.

  5. I knew Paul the last 27 years of his life and he never ceased to amaze me in his ability to stay positive given his circumstances. Even over the last two years he remained upbeat and determined to persevere. My prayers are with his family. It was an honor that Paul referred to me as a friend. RIP Paul.
