MADISON – Paul W. Croteau, 65, died Friday, December 7, 2012 after a battle with cancer.

He was born March 30, 1947 in Skowhegan, Maine, the son of Francis and Rita (Lavallee) Croteau. He attended Madison area schools until he graduated in 1966 and joined the United States Navy where he served from 1966 to 1970 at which time he received an honorable discharge.

In 1967 he married Judith Henry, then after being discharged from the Navy, was employed by Central Maine Power Company in 1970 and began as a meter reader. He worked is way up to a line supervisor until he retired in 2002.

Paul was a long-standing member of the Skowhegan Elks club where he enjoyed many games of cribbage and volunteered his time to many events and community service.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judith (Henry) Croteau of Madison; a daughter, Tami (Croteau) Drake and husband James of Kennebunk; two grandsons, Tyler Drake and Caleb Drake of Kennebunk; a brother, David A. Croteau and wife Pat of California; a sister, Judy Lapointe and husband Tom of Skowhegan; sister-in-law, Lorraine Hayden of Starks; brother-in-law, Mark Henry of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, John henry and wife Debra of Anson; nieces, nephews and many cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge on Silver Street in Skowhegan on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Paul’s memory to the Somerset Humane Society, PO Box 453, Skowhegan, Maine 04976.
