ATHENS – Paula Marie Bailey, 60, passed away on Oct. 19, 2016 at Tissue’s Country Estate in Athens with her daughter by her side, and where Paula has been a resident for the past 2.5 years.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1956, in Bangor, the daughter of Paul Winston and Margaret Ruby (Beale) Bailey. She was educated in the schools of Sagamore Beach, Mass., Clinton and Fairfield, Maine, and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1974, then continued her education at the University of Maine Orono, graduating cum laude in 1978 with a major in Spanish.
She was employed by Mount’n Valley Child Care (Health Reach Network); care provider, and worked previously at VIP Auto Parts as a cashier. She enjoyed music, reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
She was a loving mother, sister, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Paula is survived by her daughter, Rachael Bailey of Canaan; granddaughter, Nora Grotton of Canaan who was her pride and joy; two brothers: Matthew Bailey and wife Cristina Pinto-Bailey of Lexington, Virginia, and Nathan Bailey of Saco; four nieces: Nina Bailey of East Hampton, Mass., Camila Bailey of Lexington, Virginia, Gabrielle Bailey of Saco, Isabelle Bailey of Farmington; nephew, Travis Bailey of Saco; two aunts, Virginia (Beale) Levesque and husband Peter of Oakland, Mary (Beale) Randall of Augusta; uncle, Richard Beale of Belgrade.
She was predeceased by her brother, Sheridan Bailey.
The family would like to thank the staff of Tissue’s Country Estate and MaineGeneral HomeCare and Hospice for all the love and kindness that was given to Paula and family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton Village Cemetery, at the Billings-Bailey gravesite. Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to the Paul Bailey Science Award at Lawrence Junior High School, 7 School Street, Fairfield, ME 04937
