PHILLIPS – Phillip “Sonny” Lopresti, 87, passed away on August 22, 2016 at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, with his loving wife of 33 years and friends at his side.

He was born on May 11, 1929, in Melrose, Mass., the son of Anthony, Sr. and Doris Williams Lopresti. He was educated in the schools of Melrose, Mass. Sonny served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Marines, retiring as a staff sargent. Later on, he worked for the U.S. Dept. Of Defense at the Radar Site on Cape Cod.

On March 17, 1983, Sonny married Marynel Hallenbeck in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and for the past 25 years have made their home on the Number 6 Road in Phillips. He was a member of the Prescott-Fairbanks American Legion Post 64 in Phillips.

Sonny enjoyed shooting, hunting, and country music–having a band in his early years, where he played the piano, guitar and accordion, even though he never had any formal music lessons.

He is survived by his wife, Marynel Lopresti of Phillips; his four sons: John Lopresti and wife Mary Beth of Sterling, Virginia, Frank Lopresti and wife Becky of Concord, Mass., Tom Lopresti and wife Kim of Alexander, N.C., Harold Lopresti of Pembroke, Mass.; his sister, Donivee Vincent of Marshfield, Mass.; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his son, Michael Lopresti.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Katie Steward, Chris Steward, Sue Cochran, Trisha Burdin, Jennie Presby, Heather Cleaves and Allison Hansen for their loving care.

Donations may be made in Sonny’s memory to the Honor Flight of Maine, POB 1770, Portland, ME 04101.

A Celebration of Life with military honors will be held on May 11, 2017 in Phillips. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.

  1. This man was like another parent to me. Couldn’t have asked better people to work for sure do miss him like crazy. The Lopresti’s have always treated me as I was one of there own family member’s. May SONNY RIP you will be miss and never forgotten. My condolences goes to Marynel,John,Frank,Tom, and Harold and there families at this time in need. See you on the other side.
