Priscilla B. Bubar (1923-2015)

FARMINGTON – Priscilla B. Bubar, 92, of Farmington, formerly of Littleton, Maine, died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1923 in Arlington, Mass., the daughter of Major Lewis Merrill Bullock and Martha (Steele) Bullock. She received her education in Massachusetts schools and graduated from Northfield Seminary in East Northfield, Mass. She continued her education at Colby-Sawyer Junior College in New London, N.H. where she earned her B.S. in medical technology.

She worked for one year under a registered pathologist at Boston City Hospital, and then opened a laboratory in a clinic at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in Boston. In 1947, she married Treston Bubar. They returned in 1949 to Littleton, Maine to raise their family on the family farm.

Throughout her career, she was a laboratory technician at Massachusetts Othopathic Hospital and Peter Bent Brigham and later Houlton Regional Hospital. She dedicated many volunteer hours to the greater Houlton community. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, quilting, painting and drawing, knitting and crocheting and flower gardening.

On her behalf, her family would like to extend special thanks to Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center for the kind, loving, considerate care given to her and to the Beacon Hospice Care for their care and support.

She is survived by a son, Peter Bliss Bubar and his wife Stephanie Murphy Bubar of Littleton; a daughter, Melissa Bubar Allen and her husband, Philip Allen, “Phil” of Farmington; grandchildren: Amanda Bubar Wilson and her husband, Ryan and their children Ryder and Reese and grandson, Nicolas Allen. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Treston and a grandson Chris Allen who died in 2011; two sisters: Helen E. Bullock and Frances Bullock Burhouse; sisters-in-law: Lois Lycette, Marjorie Bubar, Mabel Bubar, Irene London and brothers-in-law: Ivan Bubar, Harold Lycette, Mansfield London.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, (Rtes. 2 & 27), Farmington, on Friday afternoon, Nov. 27 from 1-3 p.m. Weather permitting, graveside committal services will be held at the Littleton Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 12:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at the Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton, beginning around 1 p.m. followed by a comfort reception at the museum.
