Raymond J. Belanger (1937-2012)
JACKMAN - Raymond J. Belanger passed away on June 26th, 2012 after a long fought battle with cancer.
He was born on Sept. 18, 1937 to the late Helaire J. and Irene D. (Millard) Belanger. He attended schools in St. Francis and Fort Kent, Maine. Shortly after his family moved to Waterville, he enlisted in the Navy serving on the Aircraft Carrier USS Forrester. While serving in the Navy he found a passion for cooking and boxing.
When he returned home from the Navy he married the love of his life Nancy A. Pelletier. Ray went to truck driving school and then worked for J.J. Nissan and St. Johnsbury. Although he loved driving trucks he decided to try something new so he moved his family to St. Francis to open a bar room. He quickly had to rethink that venture having four beautiful daughters he realized it was not the right place for the family. They moved back to the Oakland area.
Ray was predeceased last August by his wife of 50 years, his parents, and his oldest sister Kathleen Johnson.
He will sadly be missed by his beloved daughters Deanna and husband William Clark, grandsons Seth, Cory and granddaughter Tresa all of Derry, NH. Christina and husband Frank Rossingnol, grandsons Eli and Jared all of New Canada, ME. Joline Belanger and husband James Schoenmann, grandson Travis and granddaughter Lauren of Jackman. Terri and husband Del Harrington, grandsons Ryan, Andrew and Nicholas of Limington, ME. His beloved son Randy Belanger of Exmouth, Australia. He is also survived by sisters Brenda Belanger of So. Portland, Lou Sturgeon of So. Portland, Me, Jackie and husband James Durant of Windham. He will also be missed by his only surviving Aunt Theresa of Ellsworth, whom he loved dearly along with many nieces and nephews.
A mass of christian burial will be held at 10 a.m Saturday, July 21, 2012, at St. Anthony’s parish Main St. in Jackman, lunch at the Four Season’s Restaurant, Jackman following the service.
