Robert “Bob” W. Ring

Robert “Bob” W. Ring, 67, died on December 30, 2020 at Cornerstone Hospice House in The Villages, FL. Bob was born in Lewiston, Maine to William and Betty Ring. Bob graduated from Mount Blue High School in 1972 and married his high-school sweetheart, Shirlene (Bubier) Ring in 1973. Together, they raised their two daughters, Kristy and Amanda in Wilton.
Bob was well known throughout Franklin County through his route sales work with Country Kitchen, Standard Coffee, and JJ Nissen. He thrived on the friendships he made with the people on his routes and delighted in catching up with people wherever he met them. He retired as a papermaker at the Androscoggin Mill.

A Wilton resident since 1964, he was a regular at the Wilson Lake Country Club and Titcomb Mountain. His regular Friday morning breakfasts with high school friends and Tuesday afternoon lunches with Turner friends were highlights of his weeks. Bob enjoyed riding motorcycles. He took many long road trips through the Canadian Maritimes, Washington D.C. and Daytona Beach.

Bob and Shirl relocated to The Villages, FL in 2014 where he enjoyed golfing and attending Red Sox Nation and Maine Club meetings, but Bob’s heart was never too far from his home of Wilton and he was always anxious to get back for a visit with his much-loved brother, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his wife, Shirlene Ring of The Villages, FL; daughters, Kristy Hall and husband Matthew of Jersey City, NJ, and Amanda Milochik and husband Michael of Laurel, MD; grandsons, Murphy and Elijah Hall; brother, Richard Ring of Jay, ME; and sisters-in-law, Brenda Robinson and husband Steve of Rio Vista, CA, and Kathleen Pike and husband Joel of Jay, ME.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, William and Betty Ring; and mother-in-law and father-in-law Arthur and Julienne Bubier.

Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to Pine Tree Camp, which provides a variety of programs for children and adults of differing abilities – https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/PineTreeSociety/OnlineDonation.html

  1. Dear Shirlene and family, Was sorry to see of Bob’s passing. I worked with him and for him at Goodwins Dairy in Farmington. He was a good guy! We had a lot of fun during those days. We were like a family there. R.I.P. my friend! Sincerely, Bob&Pam Hyde

  2. So many wonderful memories of Bob and his brother Dick growing up. Betty would have the boys shovel off a small iced area so us younger kids could skate. Bob was always so kind to all of us “little kids” in the neighborhood. I remember a hand- me- down wool jacklet that I just loved for many years that came from Bob. As adults it was always a joy to run into him and catch up on life. Bob will be missed by so many. May he now be at peace and rest in the arms of God.

  3. Sorry for your loss Shirlene. Bob played for the Beans Corner softball team for a few seasons during our formative years. Also delivered to the Beef Barn and loved to talk sports.

  4. Shirlene and family, Richard and family,
I am so sorry for your loss and so saddened to read of Bob’s passing. He was a great guy! Even when he still lived up here and he came into Jay Hannaford, he’d stop by the pharmacy to say Hi! He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Rest In Peace, Bob!

  6. To Shirlene, Kristy, Amanda, and the rest of the family, we are so sorry for your loss. Scott and I will also remember how nice Bob was to us. We will always remember the times sharing stories around a picnic table or at the house just talking over a drink. Bob had a kind heart and always seemed to make us laugh. I’ll never forget the time he tried having crab with old bay and vinegar, it was not his thing, a true Mainer. Rest In Peace Bob.

  7. My sincere condolences to Robert’s family. His enthusiasm and love for, for example, ski jumping, made us all love him. Shirlene, Kristy, and Amanda — you will miss him most, but know that your loss is shared by many of us who held him in love and respect.

  8. I am so sorry for your loss. Bob was a very kind man. Always spoke, always smiling, and was always happy. Thinking of you, Shirleen, in the days ahead. RIP Bob.
