AUBURN – Rose S. Riley, 92, a resident of Auburn and formerly of Livermore Falls, passed away Wednesday morning, March 30 at Hospice House of Androscoggin.

She was born July 24, 1923 in East Douglas, Mass., the daughter of Sophie Signet.

She was a 1941 graduate of East Douglas High School. On June 20, 1941, she married William H. Riley in Livermore Falls. During WWII she worked for Bath Iron Works, and was affectionately known as “Rosie the Riveter”. Rose worked for Norwalk Shoe Company and later was the Vice President of Livermore Falls Trust, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Maureen Hamblin and her husband Steve of Wilton, her daughter-in-law, Michelle Riley, her 4 grandchildren; Bryn Doiron and her husband Michael, Kate Carignan and her husband Chris, Shawn Riley and his wife Tina and Kirk Riley and his wife Debbie, 9 Great-grandchildren; Rylee Doiron, Isaac Doiron, Eryn Doiron, Patrick Carignan, Jack Carignan, Shane Riley and Bryan Riley, Finn Riley and Collin Riley sisters; Alma Pineau of Kennebunk and Arlene Corriveau and her husband George of Barre, Massachusetts, brothers; Harry Smith and his wife Francine of Whitinsville, Massachusetts, John Smith and his wife Lynn of Voluntown, Connecticut and Charles Smith and his wife Phyllis of South Grafton, Massachusetts.

She was predeceased by her husband William Riley, Sr. and her son William Riley, Jr., her sister; Shirley Flint and her brothers; Walter and Wilfred Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, April 2 at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Visitation will be held from 10AM-12PM prior to the funeral service. Interment at Pleasant View Cemetery, 51 Fayette Road, Livermore Falls, Maine.
