SKOWHEGAN – Roy Donald Franzose, Sr., 87, passed away July 19, 2014 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 20, 1927, in Mercer, the son of John and Vena (Brann) Franzose. He was a veteran of WWII and Korean Conflict who proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Corporal from 1945 to 1946, and again from 1952 to 1954 when he was honorably discharged.

For many years he was employed as a truck driver for Earth Movers, Alco, and was an owner and operator of his own trucking company. He was president of the Local BSC and enjoyed fly-tying, model trains, cribbage, traveling, going out to eat, spending time with family and friends telling stories and jokes.

Roy is survived by his fiancee, Myrl Perry of Skowhegan; son, Mark Franzose and wife Jessica of Athens; granddaughter, Corrina Franzose of Athens; son Allen Franzose, and wife Karen of Madison; granddaughter, Morgan of Madison; son-in-law, Dana Weeks of Skowhegan; granddaughter, Dawn Horton and partner Brenda Peloquin of Anson; granddaughter Allison Horton and partner Matt Perkins of Madison; great grandson, Jacob Campbell of Deer Isle; great granddaughter, Courtney Campbell of Skowhegan; great grandson, Kyle Campbell of Skowhegan; great granddaughter, Kala Perkins of Skowhegan; grandson, Jay Horton and wife Jasmyn of Madison; great grandson, Bryce Horton of Madison; great granddaughter Cabryna Horton of Madison; grandson, Nathaniel Weeks of Norridgewock; great grandson, Coltyn Weeks of Norridgewock; step-son, Norman Perry of Glens Falls, New York; grandson, Caleb Perry of Queensbury, New York; step-son, Richard Perry of Waterville; step daughter, Bonnie Perry and partner Theo Tainter of Watkins Glen, New York; granddaughter, Jamie Knight of Benton; great grandson, Anthony Knight of Geneva, New York; great grandson, Alex Twigg of Concord; grandson, Joshua Knight and partner Jessica Chase of Madison; great granddaughter, Summer Leigh of Madison; great grandson Donovan Knight of Hartland; step-daughter, Ginny Manzo and husband Mike of Fairfield; granddaughter, Nikki Manzo of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; grandson, Bryan Manzo and wife Andrea of Benton; great grandson, Bryce Manzo of Benton; brother, Ken Franzose of Madison; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Sheila Horton and sister-in-law, Shirley Franzose.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 10 am, at the East Skowhegan Cemetery, Reverend Mark Tanner officiating.
