STRONG – Ruth Amy (Kennedy) Seavey, 76, of Strong, died peacefully in her home on August 27, 2014.

She was born in New Vineyard on April 22, 1938, the youngest child of Earle H. And Lillian I. (Philbrick) Kennedy.

She was educated in the schools of New Vineyard and Strong. Ruth married Raymond L. Seavey on November 10, 1955. She worked in local shoe factories until they closed and then she did home care which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Ruth enjoyed her friends and family and she always felt that her friends were part of her family. She liked dancing, swimming at Porter Lake, lawn sales and hunting. Sunday dinners with her family or any opportunity to have a gathering at her home made her happy and she enjoyed hearing everyone having a good time. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and most young children were drawn to her. This must have been her philosophy; when a child is brought into this world, they need to be nurtured and protected, they learn what they observe and if they observe respect and kindness, that will be part of their nature.

She is survived by; her son, Peter Seavey and wife Shelley; her daughter, Raylene Tolman and husband Lester; her special niece, Ella Rogers and husband Bill; her grandchildren, Jeremy Seavey, Chase Seavey and fiance Bethany, Tabatha Seavey and fiance Glen, and Amy Pinkham; her great grandchild, Autumn Rich; her brother, Robert Kennedy and wife Sue; her sister, Sylvia McLain; her brother in-law, Donald Seavey; many nieces and nephews; special friend Fred Howard and his wonderful family.

She was predeceased by; her parents; her husband, Raymond Seavey; her sisters, Marie Granger and Nathalie Ballou; her brothers, Berton Makinen, Clifford Makinen, and Collins Kennedy; her nephew Lawrence Granger.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care (HACCC), 361 Old Belgrade Road, Augusta, ME 04330.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM, at the Village Cemetery in Strong with Rev. Richard Waddell officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 488 Farmington Falls Rd., Farmington, ME 04938.
