Sanborn ‘Sam’ B. Brann (1944-2016)

SKOWHEGAN – Sanborn “Sam” B. Brann, age 72, passed away June 30, 2016 at Woodlawn Care Center with his loving wife and three daughters by his side.

He was born Feb. 7, 1944 in Skowhegan, the son of Dean Alton and Leola Norma (Corson) Brann.

On June 13, 2011, he married Ellen Pitoniak at Colburn Park in Skowhegan. He was employed as a mill worker for several years, owned and operated several businesses, and retired doing mechanic and heavy equipment at Brann’s Garage in Skowhegan. During his retirement in Florida, his favorite past time was carpentry work.

Sam was hardworking and enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his quality time with them and giving them a helping hand on any project they had. He lived in Florida for 12 years and traveled back to Maine to be with his 3 daughters, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren every summer.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Pitoniak) Brann of Norridgewock; 3 daughters, Angel Perkins and husband Jeff of Norridgewock, Trudy Shusta of Skowhegan, and Tammie Frederick and husband Keith of Skowhegan; granddaughter, Amanda Black and husband Shane of Norridgewock; grandsons, Brad Perkins and wife Karen of Norridgewock, Hank Frederick and wife Rachel of Skowhegan, and Dean Frederick of Skowhegan; 3 great grandchildren, Logan, Addison and Wyatt; 2 step children, Mark and Kimberly; 4 step grandchildren, Kayla, Sebastian, Trent and Emmaline; a brother and sisters.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Shelbi Lynn Frederick.

The family would like to thank the Hospice staff and the volunteer program for all the loving care and support they provided.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Sam’s memory tothe American Cancer Society, New England Division, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, Maine 04086-1240.

  1. I was just told about Sam. I am shocked and deeply saddened. We had so much ridiculous fun here at Michael’s and you helped me so much personally. I will always miss your bear hugs and silly smile.

  2. RIP Sam. You were a great guy and everyone at Michael’s loved you. We had a great time. You were a very hard working and kind man. My deepest condolences to your family. I know how much you love them. Now you will be their angel.
