WILTON – Sheila Anne (Willis) Kane, 82, passed away on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014.

Sheila was born on Aug. 6, 1932, in Long Island, N.Y. As a teenager she moved to Augusta and graduated from Cony High School. She attended Farmington State Teachers College, where she met her soul mate and husband of 60 years, Arthur Kane.

She enjoyed many outdoor activities. As a young girl, spending time at their family camp, and “Camp Rockview” on Lake Champlain, in N.Y., as well as skiing. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, spending family time in Bar Harbor, and her trip to Ireland with Arthur and sister-in-law Marjorie Kane.

Her passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially watching their athletic events.

She is survived by her brother, Warren L. Willis III, and his wife Jean, of Woodland Hills, Calif.; sons Michael Kane of Wilton, Gavin Kane, and his wife Carole, and children: Connor, Caitlin, and Chelsea; Timothy Kane, and his wife Amanda and children: Sean, Leah, and Zachary, of Vinalhaven; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sheila was an outstanding cook and took great pride in being a stay-at-home mom until her kids began school. She then spent many years as a substitute teacher and a dental hygienist. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, including Francis Sawtelle, Beverly Franchetti, Elsie Maynard, and Jean McInnis, to name a few.

Sheila was predeceased by her parents, Warren L. Willis, mother Elizabeth (Timpson) Willis, stepmother Rosa Willis, brother Michael Willis, and husband Arthur Kane.

In-lieu of flowers a request for donations to The Autism Society of Maine is requested.

A graveside service will be held for the family, in the spring.
