SKOWHEGAN – Shirley Marie (Turgeon) Washburn, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2105.

She was born on Sept. 7, 1935 in Madison, the daughter of Arnold Russell and Florella Mae (Pomerleau) Turgeon.

She married Erlon L. Washburn in 1951. She was the mother of seven children who all meant the world to her. Shirley worked for Norwock and Dexter Shoe companies for many years. She also worked at WT Grants and The Bell Shop.

Shirley had 10 grandchildren who will remember her for her homemade cookies and milk after school. She has 22 great grandchildren who she loved dearly.

She is survived by her sons: Robert Washburn and wife Waneta of Cornville, Jeff Washburn and wife Brenda of Skowhegan, Randall Washburn of Skowhegan; daughters: Pamela Christen and husband Donald of Starks, Patricia Washburn of Skowhegan; brother, Gary Turgeon and wife Judy of North Anson; sister-in-law, Susan Turgeon of Norridgewock; brother-in-law, Roger Thibodeau of Skowhegan, who was like her little brother to her.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Erlon; two sons, Russell and Daniel Washburn; a sister, Patricia Turgeon; and a brother, Richard Turgeon.

Visitation hours will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 1 to 2 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. at Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service (Adams Chapel), 445 Waterville Road in Skowhegan. Interment in the spring at the South Side Cemetery in Skowhegan.
