PORTLAND – Stacy (Barker) Haines, 55, of Avon passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, June 30, 2016, after a brief but strong battle at Maine Medical Center.

Stacy was born on Feb. 6, 1961 to Clyde and Lois (Hutchins) Barker of Wilton at Franklin Memorial Hospital. Being the youngest of three, she was the apple of her daddy’s eye and loved having two big brothers to protect her. She attended the Wilton schools through her childhood and graduated from Mt. Blue High School in 1979.

Her love and passion for art started at a young age, and upon graduation of high school, she moved to Virginia to attend Northern Virginia Community College to receive her associate’s degree in Graphic Design. She married Jeffrey L. Dunham of Wilton in June of 1981. After the birth of her first child, Megan, she moved back up to Maine into her hometown of Wilton. Once back in Maine she gave birth to her second child, Chad, worked as a legal secretary for Judge John Benoit, and a manager for Berner Real Estate.

She received her degree in banking in 1991 and worked at many area banks for 5-6 years. Stacy’s true calling in life came to her after having an extended stay in the hospital for surgical complications. After her scare, and with her calm, empathetic demeanor, she knew what field she needed to be in: nursing.

She got her CNA degree in 1994, and started working night shifts at Orchard Park while attending classes at University of Maine at Augusta. In 1995, she started college full time and received her associate’s degree in Nursing in 1997. Since passing her nursing boards she worked at Strong Area Health Center,Franklin Memorial Hospital Genesis, Sandy River Rehabilitation, Edgewood Manor, multiple hospitals in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Florida, as a traveling nurse, before finding her perfect nursing job in 2016 at Maplecrest in Madison.

Not only did she always have full time jobs and classes, Stacy was a member of the MSAD 58 School Board, a member of Farmington Emblem Club No. 460, a very active member of Pythian Sisters in the Cleopatra No. 90 in Strong. and the Narrow Gauge ATV Club in Avon. She traveled all over the United States for conventions and events, not just to attend, but to support her fellow sisters in both Emblem Club and Pythian Sisters.

In 2009, she married the love of her life, her husband, Terry Haines. They lived happily in Avon with their beloved dachshunds, Oscar and Louise.

Stacy is was predeceased by her grandparents, Leonard and Methyl Hutchins; her high school best friend Tammy Trask, and her long time friend and confidant, Darlene Rowe.

Stacy will leave behind her husband, Terry, of Avon; her parents, Clyde and Lois Barker, of Strong; her children: daughter, Megan (Dunham) Norster, son-in-law, Greg Norster, of Strong, son, Chad Dunham and her daughter-in-law, Christine (Jones) Dunham of Wilton; her brothers: Steve Barker, of Wilton, and Mike Barker of Chesterville; her grandchildren: Marlee Stevens-Dunham of Strong, Isabella and Alexis Norster of Strong, and Clyde Dunham of Wilton, along with many extended family including nieces and nephews who she loved very much.

Stacy will forever be remembered for her warm smile, she constant positive attitude, and her willingness to help anyone, anytime.

Visiting hours are scheduled for Tuesday, July 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Adams-McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court Street, Farmington. Funeral Services to be held at Trinity Methodist Church, 612 Farmington Falls Road in  Farmington on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 1 p.m. with a private burial following at Miles Square Cemetery in Avon.

  9. Prayers to Stacey’s family. She was a great person with a positive attitude. She, Brenda, and I went to nursing school together, at test time we would have a worry and fret sessions all the way to KVTC. She would always be positive and have encouraging words. (Even when one of us didn’t do so well) Her smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

  28. Stacy worked as nurse manager on the skilled unit at Maplecrest and was remarkable in her nursing skills, organisation, and compassion. We shared an office and every day working with her was very pleasant and fruitful. I miss her very badly.
