DANFORTH – Stanley J. McEwen Sr., 68 , passed away on April 30, 2015, at his daughter’s home in Palmyra surrounded by family, when he lost his battle with cancer.

He was born on July 21, 1946 in Wytopitlock, Maine, the son of John and Luella (Cook) McEwen.

He was a veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. During his service to his country, he was awarded the Purple Heart. In his younger years, he was employed at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna and for his brother, Roger at the sawmill.

He enjoyed fishing and collecting several items that he often gave to his children.

Stanley is survived by sons, Stanley McEwen, Jr. and wife Don’l of Canaan, Travis McEwen, Sr. and wife Atchara of Hartland, and Shawn Beebe of Connecticut; daughters, Pam Murphy of Wellington, Connecticut, Michelle McEwen of Palmyra; grandchildren, Curtis, Colby, Harley, Travis Jr., Chase, and Faylynn May McEwen; great grandson, Conner; brothers, Jeff McEwen and wife Carlean of Danforth, Larry McEwen of Rockville, Connecticut, Roger McEwen of Houlton ; sisters Barbara Ulitsch of Connecticut, Judy McEwen of Old Orchard, and Jeannette Mailman of Van Buren; sister-in-law, Connie McEwen; several nieces and nephews; good friends, Judy and Bob Crone; and best buddy, Isaac.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Luella McEwen; brothers, Jack, Dale, and Robert; sisters, Violet Carson and Shirley Rollins.

A celebration of life will will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Stanley’s home in Danforth.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Stanley’s memory to: American Cancer Society, New England Division, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, Maine 04086-1240.
