SKOWHEGAN – Theresa L. Cowette, 85, passed away on July 17, 2014 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital surrounded by family.
She was born on Jan. 5, 1929, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Peter and Lumina (Samson) LaPointe.
She was educated in local area schools and completed her education at the end of her eighth grade year. On June 16, 1956, she married Garald Cowette at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Skowhegan. She was employed for over 30 years as a cook at the Skowhegan High School cafeteria. Theresa loved knitting and camping at Abnaki campground.
Theresa is survived by her son, Kim Cowette and wife Tammy of Skowhegan; two daughters, Annette Hayden and husband Allen of Bangor, Allison Moshier and husband Stewart of Cornville; two grandsons: Schyler Cowette of Skowhegan, Gary Moshier of Cornville; three granddaughters: Mikayla Cowette of Skowhegan, Ashley Rand and husband Cam of Lisbon, Sheena Moshier of Cornville; three great granddaughters; two great grandsons; brother, Lucien LaPointe; four sisters: Juliette Willette, Elaine Cyr, Loretta George and husband Joe, Dorothy Franklin; and sister-in-law, Rachel LaPointe; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Richard LaPointe; three sisters, Gabrielle Bushey, Marie Paquete, and Pearl LeBlanc.
A graveside service will be held on Aug. 16, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the South Side Cemetery in Skowhegan.
