WINSLOW – On Saturday, June 27, 2015, surrounded by her family and friends, Tracey S. Johnson lost her fierce and courageous battle with cancer and began her next great adventure.

Born in Waterville on March 14, 1960, Tracey was the daughter of Evelyn K. Sandy and the late Roland D. Sandy. An intensely loyal individual, Tracey lived her life fully and enthusiastically. She was a strong and giving woman who valued hard work, the outdoors, and her loved ones above all else.

Always handy and independent, Tracey stated working at age 15, taking jobs at the Colby Ski Slope, Shop N’ Save, Phillip J. Morris, R.J. Reynolds, and Eaton Mountain before using her entrepreneurial spirit to create her own painting business, where she earned a local reputation for quality and reliability. A master of all trades, Tracey took great pride in producing wreaths and kissing balls for the holiday season.

Tracey brought joy to the world not only with her carefree spirit and sense of humor, but through her incredible skills in the kitchen. One of Tracey’s most treasured hobbies was fishing with her friends. She looked forward to her annual getaways to Nahmakanta Lake with “the girls” and also enjoyed being out on Pattee’s Pond at the family camp.

Tracey is survived by her devoted daughter, Kelli Anne Johnson of Vassalboro; her pride and joy, grandsons Elisha L. Baker and Malaki Baker of Vassalboro; her loving mother, Evelyn Sandy and her partner Grant Randall of Zephyrhills, FL; her loyal brother, Mark Sandy and his wife Lisa Sandy, and their son Ben Sandy, of Vassalboro; her countless friends, especially Effie Reynolds of Vassalboro, Tweet Laverderie of China, and Kenny Miller of Winslow whose undying love and devotion of Tracey was unwavering until the very end.

Tracey was predeceased by her father, Roland D. Sandy, her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and several friends.

Tracey’s family would like to extend their deep and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Joel Smith, who went above and beyond the call of duty in his ongoing care of Tracey. Also, to Amanda Jones, who became a friend to Tracey a short time ago, providing her with tender loving care over her last weeks. Tracey’s family would also like to thank Amy Lessard, Janice Williams, Pauline Leach, and Polly Kent. In addition, the Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area, the staff at MaineGeneral Health and the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care for their care, compassion, and guidance.

At Tracey’s request, a celebration of her life will be held at the convenience of the family
