Wallace C. Penney (1934-2015)

AUBURN – Wallace C. Penney, 81, of Kingfield passed away early on Monday morning, Feb. 23, 2015, at Bolster Heights Residential Care in Auburn.

He was born on Feb. 15, 1934 in Lewiston, the son of Paul E. and Mildred Penney. He attended school in Lewiston, Strong and finished in Kingfield. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 and served his country until Jan. of 1955.

Wallace went to work for Sikorsky Helicopter in Connecticut for a period before returning home to Maine where he worked as a mechanic and auto body repairman at Morton Motors and other local auto shops.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cross country skiing, playing cribbage and volleyball, and was the pitcher for the Strong softball team. He also enjoyed working as an auto body man from his home after retiring.

Surviving him are two daughters: Kathleen McClure and her husband Jim of Kingfield, Jewel Rowe and husband Errol of Livermore Falls; sons: Paul Penney of Wilton, and Timothy Penney and his wife Jean of Greenbush; four granddaughters: Angela, Cassie, Katie, and Alicia; four great-grandchildren, and a great great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by a son Michael Penney, and a sister Iva Castro.

A graveside memorial service will be held May 16, 2015, at 10 a.m. with Rev. R. Dubuc officiating at the Strong Village Cemetery in Strong.   1. Condolences to the family. Thank you Clyde and Judy Penney for taking such great care of Wally in his time of need. Wally is home with his Father in heaven enjoying a new life in a perfect pain free body.
