MADISON – Walter Ward, 82, passed away on Dec. 4, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 27, 1934, in Panama City, Florida, the son of Robert Lee and Lee Bell (Milligan) Ward. He was educated in the schools of Skowhegan and graduated from Skowhegan High School. On Feb. 16, 1963, he married Julia May Coro in Skowhegan.

He was a veteran who proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force until his honorable discharge. Later, he was employed by the Somerset Sheriff’s Department, Madison Paper, and Sappi Fine Paper.

Walter was a member of the Moose Alley Riders ATV Club, the Madison American Legion, and Christ Community Fellowship Church of Madison. He enjoyed ATV riding, camping, cribbage, golf, bean bag toss, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Julia M. (Coro) Ward of Madison; two sons: Kenneth Ward and fiance Rebecca Hadley of Madison, Blaine Stetson and Ginny Belanger of Madison; brother, Donald Ward and wife Marie of Polk City, Florida; sister, Kay Felland of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 at Christ Community Fellowship Church, 43 Maple Street, Madison with Tobin Curtis officiating.
