EAST DIXFIELD – Warren F. Rollins, 84, of East Dixfield died on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at his home, with his daughters by his side.

Born on Oct. 7, 1930, in Farmington, Warren was the eldest son of John and Theda (Packard) Rollins. He graduated from Wilton Academy in 1948 and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Warren worked at the paper mill in Rumford for 38 years and was constable for the town of Wilton for 19 years. He was married to Sherrill Magrath and together raised their children, Vicki, Michele, and Lisa.

Warren was an avid hunter and fly fisherman and loved to snowmobile. He was passionate about politics at the national, state, and local levels. He served at various times as treasurer and vice president of the Franklin County Republican Committee and as a delegate to the Maine Caucus.

A reader from a young age, he supported the Wilton Free Public Library by serving as a trustee for many years. He was president of the Wilton Historical Society and served on the planning appeals board and budget committee for the town of Wilton.

He loved to golf and was proud of scoring two holes in one and was a member of the board of directors of the Wilson Lake Country Club.

Warren loved baseball, playing on local teams in his youth and was a die hard Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed bowling and participated on many bowling leagues throughout the years. He was an early member of the Tree Farm Association of Maine and a life member of the VFW, American Legion, Sportman’s Alliance of Maine, and the NRA.

He is survived by his three daughters, Vicki Adams and her husband Jeff of Wilton, Michele Rollins and her husband Richard Creswell of Yarmouth, and Lisa Rollins and her husband Greg Butler of Vancouver B.C.; a brother Lauren Rollins of East Wilton; grandchildren: Lance, Beth, Jennifer, Courtney, Levi, Ashley, Braelan, Stephen and Andrew.

He was predeceased by his parents and youngest brother, Stephen Rollins.

  1. Sending sympathy to everyone from Clayton and Arline LaPlant and Tom and Vicki LaPlant. Warren will be missed, he talked nearly everyday with Arline. They also had fun betting on the Red Sox baseball games! We wish your family peace and comfort at this time.

  2. I will miss Warren watching over “his” end of our road. An excellent neighbor and friend.

  3. Warren and my Dad chatted nearly daily and could straighten out all the ills of the world. He will miss the discussions of world events with Warren. When Dad was ill, Warren would get daily updates until he was on the mend. They had a true friendship which extended to me. Our condolences to the family on his passing.
