William “Bill” Earl Donald

WILTON – William “Bill” Earl Donald, 72, of Wilton, died Oct. 29, 2020 at his home in Wilton.

He was born Sept. 12, 1948 a son of George and Marjorie (Gould) Donald and received his education in local schools. He served in the United States Navy as a Chaplain’s Assistant and after his discharge was employed at the University of Maine at Farmington Bookstore as the Manager for many years. He enjoyed reading action and Sci-Fi books and watching similar themed movies, playing cribbage, going to casinos, and traveling. He is survived by a brother, Charles Donald; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and many cousins.

Public graveside memorial services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton, Saturday June 12, 2021 at 11 am. The family suggests that those who desire consider memorial gifts in his memory to the Mercer United Methodist Church, c/o Carol Ross, PO Box 192, Wilton, ME 04294.Family and friends are invited to share memories in his Book of Memories at www.wilesrc.com. Cremation care and memorial services are being cared for and provided by the Wiles Remembrance Center: Adams~McFarlane Chapel, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington.

  1. My sincere condolences to the family of Bill. I have not seen him for over 50 plus years but as I read his obituary memories of times on Wilson Lake when life was simpler and kids enjoyed time outside we gathered at various camps and enjoyed time together. If my memory is correct, Bill would have us in stitches as he would say, “Come with me to the Casbah! You are mine, mine all mine,” as he acted out a character. As I rode around the lake last summer I mentioned to my son, who now has a place on the lake, “I wonder where Charley and Billy Donald are as they used to be in that camp and we all had such a great time summers!”
    Charley, and family, may you find comfort in knowing others are thinking of you and holding you in prayer.
