William J. Prosser (1933-2014)

CORNVILLE – William J. Prosser, 81, passed away on Sept. 29, 2014 at his home in Cornville, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1933, in Philadelphia, Penn., the son of William F. and Margaret Alice (Robinson) Prosser.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1954 until his honorable discharge. On Nov. 16, 1967, he married Charlotte Hartman in Salisbury, Maryland.

He was employed for many years as a traveling construction superintendent for W.T. Grant and J.C. Penney. William was a VFW member, union member, a member of the Skowhegan Federated Church, and U.S.S. Moale Association.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, world news and entertaining great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks and gratitude to Hospice for their care and dedication during William’s illness, with a very special thank you to Michelle, Holly, and Nichole.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Charoltte (Hartman) Prosser of Cornville; two daughters, Linda Nelson and husband William of New Jersey, Christina Prosser of Maine; and son, Malcolm Prosser and wife Maria of Maine; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 at 11 a.m., at the Federated Church, Skowhegan.

In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in William’s memory to the Federated Church, PO Box 504, Skowhegan, Maine 04976.
