AUBURN – Wintworth V. Lander III, “Wint,” 67, of Farmington, died on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at the Hospice House surrounded by his family.

Wint was born on Sept. 21, 1947, in Kingfield, a son of Wintworth V. and Phyllis (Smith) Lander II. He attended local schools and graduated from Kingfield High School. Wint married Bonnie Bell on July 3, 1980 in Kingfield and together they lived on Maple Street.

He worked for Kingfield Wood Products and was a member of the Laborers’ Union Local No. 1284 where he worked in construction for many years. Wint and Bonnie later moved to Farmington and have spent the last five years living as the caretakers of the Nordica Homestead Museum in Farmington.

Wint was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, camping and riding ATVs; and at one time, was a Registered Maine Guide. Wint was also an avid race and football fan.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lander and his children, Shaun Lander and his wife Rebecca (Sweetser) of Orlando, FL; Christian Lander and his friend Monique Campbell of Maynard, Mass. and Jeremy and his wife Amanda (Sokolowski) of Maynard, Mass.; step-children: Janet (Strome) Daigle and her husband Dean of Auburn, Donna (Stevens) Trask and her husband Todd of Jefferson, and Christopher Stevens and his wife Tawni (Quint) of Warren; grandchildren: Cassandra Sweetser, Morgan and Christina Lander of Orlando, FL; Samantha, Sarah and Ashley Lander of Massachusetts; Lauren Lander and Damien Sokolowski of Maynard, Mass.;  Scott, Sean and Dawna Marie Daigle of Auburn; Jason Madore of Strong, Jessica (Stevens) Lane of Farmington Falls; Jordan Millette of Farmington; Dani and Shantelle Quint of Rockland and Zachary Quint of Portland; 19 great-grandchildren, soon to be 20; and one great-great grandson.

He was predeceased by his parents.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Hospice House for their kindness and support. Services for Wint will be held at a later date.
