Letter to the Editor: A big thank you

1 min read

My name is Brett Strout, the Fire Chief here in Athens, and I am writing to you today in regards to letting you know that on May 3, Poland Spring in Kingfield generously donated a pallet of bottled water to our fire department. That’s 78 cases of bottled water that will help keep our firefighters hydrated at fire calls and trainings. This is the third time in the past several years that this donation has been given to us.

I want to say thank you to them and let them know we greatly appreciate it. Poland Spring goes above and beyond to help out communities throughout Maine and I feel they do not get recognized as often as they should. Thank you for time.

  1. Well, Brett, what about that water is FREE to Poland Springs. They remove our water by the millions of gallons every day and pay a big fat zero for it. They are a foreign country taking advantage of Maine because our leaders in Augusta let it happen! They are not doing us any good so someday when we are all dried out someone will have to put out the fires. In Poland Spring the water table went down 6 inches long ago (like 20 years) because of them. They are ruining our roads every day with their railroad of trucks and we are picking up the tab. Think again.

  2. Honestly people,,,
The guy simply expressed appreciation for a good deed and you could not just let it go????
You had to barge in and make it about,,,”you”.

I don’t care about this company,,,but you guys are just drama.

Maybe you guys could donate some water as an apology for your bad manners.
We won’t hold our breathe waiting for that.
