Letter to the Editor: In support of Ed David

1 min read

We, one enrolled Republican and one enrolled Democrat, support Ed David to be our representative in the Maine House.

Ed has strong ties in our community. His law practice has put him in touch with hundreds of people. And, his work in his church and in its mission to Honduras tells us a lot about his character and his ability to work through private channels for the common good.

Perhaps most important to us is that his work in family law has given him great familiarity with the state’s social services. It has been obvious for decades that the state’s Department of Health and Human Services is a quagmire, bogged down in its own self-serving swamp and clearly unclear about its mission, let along how to accomplish a mission. We need people in the legislature who are not afraid to take on that behemoth and to craft legislation that will set that and other departments on the path to serving the state of Maine.

Ed is also quite familiar with other problem areas in our state, including both the state’s responsibility to fund 55 percent of primary and secondary education and its overbuilt system of higher education.

Ed David will give New Sharon and Farmington thoughtful and measured representation in Augusta. We plan to vote for him on Nov. 4.
