Letter to the Editor: In support of Jan Collins

1 min read

I support Jan Collins for Maine State Senator because we grew up together in Wilton and have known each other for 55+ years, from sharing Sunday School as kids, to now celebrating grandchildren as mature women, and lots of life lived in between. She’s had an interesting and diverse career throughout the state while never losing touch with her rural roots. Her ability to listen, with a warmth that is always inclusive of diverse points of view and life experiences, is extraordinary. She has the skills, knowledge and personal attributes to get things done in a competent and respectful manner, and would be a welcome addition to the Maine Senate. I am so happy to endorse her candidacy!

  1. Jan Collins will be a strong, smart, kind and empathetic member of the Maine State Senate.
Jan has my vote. I hope the folks of Franklin County will vote for Jan too!

  2. I, too, see the fine qualities needed in a Maine’s State Senator in Jan Collins. She is not motivated by partisan politics, but by a commitment to finding the best way to solve problems. I admire her positive attitude as she talks with people of all backgrounds and opinions. She always asks voters what their concerns are and she listens to their ideas sincerely and patiently, then presents her own view truthfully. Jan is persistent in working towards her goals, as shown by her loading up her backpack and hiking the Appalachian Trail, not just once, but twice. She carefully studies problems and challenges, arming her mind with facts and long-range thinking. We’ll be fortunate if Jan Collins is elected to the Maine State Senate.

  3. Jan is steady, self assured, reasoned in response, but is also compassionate. She is a rare one, and we’ll be fortunate to have her representing us in Maine’s Senate.

  4. I support Jan Collins for the State of Maine, District 17 Senator’s seat. The current Legislators have done little for the property owners in Maine and it is up to us to change that. They have reduced revenue from the state ment to offset property taxes. The revenues from Revenue Sharing and the Local Roads Assistance Program were designed to do just that, offset property taxes. We need change; we need someone that will stand up for the people of Maine. I’m voting for Jan Collins. Good Luck Jan, Guy Iverson

  5. I echo what Craigen and others say. We need principled people more than ever. I’ve know Jan for quite a few years now. She listens, she researches the facts, she follows through on her commitments, and she’s full of good common sense!

  6. Guy is absolutely correct on about rising property taxes in small towns due to drastic cuts in revenue sharing under Governor LePage and the Republicans in the Legislature. Since 2013 my family’s property taxes
have INCREASED 75%! Democrats will restore revenue sharing, and unless we make this happen, many families will lose their homes in the years ahead.
