Letter to the Editor: Support Scott Landry

1 min read

I’m voting for Scott Landry for House District 113. Scott, as an insurance agent, was a great help finding feasible health insurance for employees of my small business in years past. He’s indicated strong support of MaineCare expansion, and his insurance background gives him a unique perspective of the need.

The present representative, as well as Scott’s opponent, have not been supportive, depriving over 70,000 needy Mainers of health care. Many of these people are seasonal and/or part time workers in service related jobs. Clearly, they need to remain healthy to perform and support our economy. LD 633, masterfully crafted and presented by Senator Thomas Saviello, addressed the many previous objections, yet the governor and many legislators have continued to oppose this needed benefit.

Federal funds would pay nearly all of this expense, reducing costs presently being paid by the State. This expanded MaineCare would reduce charity costs at Franklin Memorial Hospital, and help with fighting opioid addiction, while creating and saving medically related jobs. It makes good sense.

Please support Scott Landry and support the renewed MaineCare expansion effort.

  1. I would be happy to see Scott’s much needed support for Mainers in need. Our region is all about recognizing our neighbors’ needs and taking care of each other.
