Letter to the Editor: Thanks to all for a successful Blueberry Festival!
The Wilton Blueberry Festival 2012 was a great success this year. This can only happen with the help of firefighters, the Highway Dept., Rec Dept, Wilton and Jay police departments, Franklin County Sheriff's Department, medics, civic groups, businesses, news media, crafters, vendors, churches, RSU 9, United Way's Day of Caring volunteers, Western Maine Expo, volunteers, and last, but not least, Mother Nature (LOL).
Special thanks to all of the above and those of you who just step in to help where needed.
We would like to thank Kora Temple units for coming to entertain the public. They will be back in 2013. Special thanks Friends of Wilson Lake for boat rides, the 1 mile, 10K &10K walk staff for the races, Farmington Emblem Club 460, entertainment, everyone who was in the two wonderful parades, and the people who attended to make the festival a success.
We had the best Friday attendance since the festival started. Many local, out of town and state visitors were at the fireworks on Saturday night. The start went much faster because the weather cooperated. The pyrotechs need to test the fireworks first to see how the wind will affect the smoke, which is a major safety issue for the many spectators. Once we we're given the go-ahead, we were off.
If anyone would like to donate for the 31st Blueberry Festival year, to be held August 2 & 3, 2013, it is never too early to help out. The theme will be “A little bit of country.”
Again, I would like to thank everyone for their participation. No job goes unnoticed.

Blueberry Festival Chairwoman

Thank you Shannon and everyone who helped make the Festival happen! Is there a way to find out 1 mile race results? My son ran but we were unable to stay long enough to see the results.
