Letter to the Editor: The gift of living in a caring community

1 min read

This time of year is a time of reflection and giving and receiving of gifts, and looking forward to a new year.

This year our family has experienced a very hard year, and at the same time it has been a time when we received overwhelming kindness, love and support. On June 14 our house burned down, with a complete loss and no insurance. Being from a small town community with having family as neighbors, we were able to rebuild and move in by November.

So much of this was possible with the enormous amount of help and support of our family and the entire community, as well as local businesses. Every gift of people’s time and energy, donations of materials and financial support was well used and appreciated more than we can say.

To all who gave of their love and support this year we want to extend our heartfelt thanks. There are too many to name individually, but we will remember it always. Living here in a community that is so loving and supportive means the world to us. We will continue our lives paying it forward.

So, thank you all.
