Letter to the Editor: Who to vote for?

1 min read

You know, the thing I keep hearing from people who want to vote for Donald Trump is, “He’s rich. He must be good at business, etc.”

Well, do you think he’s going to share his money? I don’t think so. I am not thrilled with Hillary Clinton, either, and I figure Bernie Sanders won’t win because a third party rarely does. So the race will be between Clinton and Trump.

I am disgusted by all the lies and grand-standing. I wonder whatever happened to America when an honest (and even a poor person) could become president. Now, the candidates blow millions of dollars to run for the prestige. Even if they lose, they will still go down in some history book.

I don’t trust rich billionaires who have obviously had a hair implant, has a trophy wife and spouts off with no manners at all. I just hope everyone seriously thinks before they vote and I am not endorsing either one. But I know it won’t be Trump. Maybe the good old American guy — where is he?

  1. Leona Ross,

Firstly, why would he “share” HIS money? For being a billionaire he has spent the least of “raised funds” then any other candidate; because he has been self funding. Your comments about hair implants and having a trophy wife; is an example of what irritates you; “lies and grand-standing.” So your reasoning holds no merit as it crumbles with in its content.

  2. For me it all pretty much comes down to who would be choosing 2 or 3 Supreme Court justices.

For that reason alone I will vote for Clinton. The prospect of Trump, particularly with the court in mind, is simply abhorrent to me.

I hope that the “Bernie or bust” people consider this, and get over their hissy fits.

  3. trump said he will apoint justices who stictly interpret the constitiution. nothing to fear there. also would you say that hillary clinton does not wear make up or do botox/face lifts or dye her hair? thats on equal footing to hair plugs. i would definitely call bill clinton a trophy husband, as they are definitely not together out of love. the fact that trump has billions of dollars and has spent that on his campaign shows that he is his own man and not the agent of the corporations. almost all of clinton’s money comes from corporations. you may want to take another look at the candidates and not just go off what you were told from the propoganda box.

  4. Zaphod must be one of the Clinton coolaid addicts who just can’t get sober. Poor zaphod.

the Clinton coolaid addicts would support her even if she used her power to cover up her own criminal activity year after year, event after event. Even if she was in bed with wall street when they screwed US. Even if she showed callous disregard for lost American lives overseas and got her parties nomination secured before the race even begun…..
Oh wait she DID do all those things.

What Sanders has accomplished is courageous and noble.
Big SURPRISE, the coolaid crowd doesn’t even know what those things look like.
    Nor do they care.
    Think for yourself much?

So crooked Hillary’s big accomplishment will be beating the self defeating orange fool.
Tip your coolaid cups boys and girls.
    The show starts soon.

  5. To not feeling the “Bern” vs. “Burn”

I am not expecting Trump to bail out America. But I think some think he will. For instance, how does he expect to stick a wall or a huge fence between the USA and Mexico? It is unlikely that will happen because it will cost tax payers too much money. This country is already up to its eyeballs in debt. And maybe you are right about the irritating thing I find the most about him. He appears (to me) all about self-image and how he projects to others. He only wants to be president because he is vain Even if he had an ugly wife and was as bald as pool ball, I still wouldn’t like him. He just wants a lot of attention. Thanks for your opinion, though.

  6. My corrected post…

For me it’s more of, (unfortunately), the deal we were dealt…and which candidate is going to honor and follow what they will swear to uphold and protect…!

And as to the lack of money to pay for, “whatever”, please spare us the, “…its Bush’s fault…” We know WHAT is responsible: The combination of weak government revenues (tax receipts) and a vast increase in government spending.

And just to be fair given the extent of the mess Obama inherited, it’s possible that nothing would have fixed it by now. But even huge Obama supporters are justifiably frustrated with his over-promising, as well as with many of the decisions he has made. So in fact we have money to pay for things that are needed in this country. It’s a spending and allocation problem that the left is more servility afflicted with, which the results typically is not in the best interest of the country. So to throw your vote into the growing fire and continue in the direction that we are heading its like, to keep on driving down the road of doom and gloom and not turning on the first right turn.

    Nuff Said.

  7. I meant to include a couple of links via the button, but they disappeared. (?) Here are the bare URLs.

    http://freebeacon.com/issues/1-48-trillion-government-collects-record-high-taxes-first-half-fy-2016/

The Feds are hauling in money at record levels. The related question is, who is paying it? More than 50% of individuals don’t pay anything. For those of us who do, we haven’t had a significant rate change in years.

About half of the federal revenue comes from taxes on individuals. Who pays the other half? The only other significant source is … Wait. That can’t be right. Everybody knows they don’t pay their fair share.

  8. I’m guessing you missed my point? I will help you out; from your own source: “Even as the Treasury was hauling in a record $3,248,723,000,000 in tax revenues in fiscal 2015, the federal government was spending $3,687,622,000,000. So, the federal government ran a deficit of $438,899,000,000 for the fiscal year.” Wow!

Oh, btw, of all the “workers” that “pay taxes”, more than 24 million are government paid employees. So it’s like taking the money in your wallet, taking it out then putting it into your pocket. In terms of economics, those shouldn’t be included in your assessment of revenue collected, in fact it’s not different than including those on welfare as a revenue source for the government. Bingo, weak government revenue, (tax receipts).

I never said anything about a fair share tax, etc…

    Nuff Said…

  9. How could anyone with a conscience vote for Clinton? And she could even bring Elizabeth Warren along! Makes it clear to choose the lesser of all evils.
